A Summer Fling

I usually hide away all of my craft paraphernalia and projects between the months of April and October, preferring to take advantage of the summer months to get outside and be active. But this year I have been bitten by the knitting bug earlier than usual.

Harry Potter Illusion

Just a quick post before I head into work this Black Friday. Earlier in the week I finished the Harry Potter illusion project I've been working on. I stumbled across the pattern for this project a while back and thought it a fantastic idea: what better way to commemorate the magic of Harry Potter than by a "magical" knitting project. I absolutely love sharing this project with people. I make them look at it directly at first and the reaction at seeing a striped product leaves them unimpressed.

ProjectOne: Completed

CloseUp of Scarf

So it's taken me some time, but my first knitting project is finally complete! Here are some pictures.

The scarf is pretty long - I prefer long scarves to the ones that refuse to stay wrapped around your neck. Its final dimensions are: 65.5" x 8.5". That should definitely keep me warm this winter!

First Knitting Project

Despite my deep eagerness to move onto something big, I have ultimately decided to keep my first project simple. I am knitting a scarf with some leftover yarn I had sitting around the house. I am using a Caron(R) Simply Soft(R) yarn. The color is Dark Country Blue, which I love because it is the closest thing to my favorite color that I could find in any of my local craft shops. I'm ribbing the scarf, alternating 1 purl, 1 knit stitch for a smaller rib. I'm not quite sure how this will turn out, but I will be certain to keep you all updated on my progress.

New to Knitting

Hello everyone! Just a little bit more about myself: I am completely new to knitting - I just started teaching myself today, haha. I have been crocheting since I was about 8 years old, but as I grew older I began to form an interest in knitting as well. So I began researching it and here I am. I guess I'm off to a decent start. I guess having some history in crocheting helped out a little.

I am exicted to be a part of this new community! I was happy to have stumbled across this website. I look forward to getting to know many of you.
