Monterey Bay

By any chance is there a men's knitting group in the Monterey Bay area?

Friends, I need help

Friends, I am in the process of knitting a neckdown pullover sweater for the first time. It is with circular needles and I have come to the point of having to cast on another skein of yarn. In the past I have used the braided method of adding new yarn. I am a little leery of using this method for a sweater. I also am not sure about adding a new skein the traditional way and later sewing in the "tails" as the entire sweater as you all know is in stockinette stitch and I worry that the sewn in yarn will be quite visible on the finished project.

7 Day Afghan

7 day afghan, yea right! I remember about two years ago ilhiker a.k.a Mark displayed for all of us a beautiful afghan he knitted and remarked "never again." I should have listened carefully to what he said. A while back I picked up this book at my local Friends of the Library book sale titled "7 Day Afghans," chose the one that I would like to do and got started. Whoops, how to start a row with a yarn over and each row started with one.

past knit purl

Greetings: just thought you might like to see what I did for a friend for Christmas. I finally got past the knit 1, purl 1 stage. May you all have a wonderful holiday and good knitting in the New Year. Joe and Quinton - I am actually traveling back to your area in June and hope we can get together for some coffee and knitting. Baby Ella

OK, I have tried three times to post this so I hope it goes through this time. I have never sent a photo of my knitting (for good reason) until now as I have always been in such awe of the work that you all do. However, my neighbors just had their first baby two weeks ago and during the summer months I used one of Louis' prayer shawl patterns to whip up a baby blanket. So here is Baby Ella Brooke with her blanket and don't you wish we could all be so content and relaxed? - John

Lace instruction book(s)

I need your help. Annie's website sent an email out with three books about knitting lace all claiming to be "easy." One looked like it might be for beginners, but I am skeptical. So, can any of you recommend a title that is easy for us beginners. I hope to give some prayer shawls as Christmas presents and need to start now if I expect them to be under the tree by the 25th of December.

Clarification

I need some help with this one. I started a project that said to slip the first and last stitch on each RS and to purl the first and last stitch on each WS. I slip the first stirch on the RS then follow that directions correctly for the row but come to the end stictch witch is to be slipped and I end up with a loop or unknitted stitch. That is to say the yarn still hangs down from the second to the last stitch as if I should knit or purl the last loop. This is incorrect isn't it? What am I doing wrong? I accept all help and hints.

Reblocking

OK Guys and Gals I am a novice at this craft and could use some help. My first two attempts came out well after starting each about ten times. Then the next two when finished required washing and blocking. I thought things were going well and became a little too self satisfied until I saw the final products. Both look like something that ends up at the thrift store the day after Christmas. Question: Is is possible to rewash and reblock, or am I stuck with ugly mishappen products?
