to decide to host a Mystery Knit-a-long.
Almost 700 signed up for it
Just posted the third clue.
And I am really nervous becuase I have no idea if anyone will actually like the design.
I've yet to see a design of yours that everyone (let alone "anyone") didn't like!!
which I find extremely wierd.
MMario - I'm not divorced from reality - we're having a trial separation
You must be thrilled to have 700 people knitting a design of yours all at the same time. Congratulations.
700 variations of a project sounds like a book to me!
You do seem to have a penchant for the epic!
If it's your design, then what's not to like?
Mario, explain how a mystery knit-a-long works. Do you just supply a chart? Do you recommend yarn or gauge? I'm curious. I also can't imagine someone not liking a pattern of yours.
Usually a yarn and needle size is reccommended - and a gauge. I posted a swatch and approx rows/stitches of the completed object and told people to figure out their own gauge....but did suggest a needle and wieght yarn.
The pattern is divided up into sections; usually based on difficulty or size. My first two clues were smaller because they involved more complex stuff then later sections.
For a mystery knit along usually only the shape is revealed; and they only get charts/instructions a piece at a time, so the overall design is the mystery. and the name of the pattern is usually withheld until the end.
Made a couple of stupid mistakes on the third clue - so had to correct that this morning - and also some even dumber mistakes on another pattern I just released for test knitting; and of course one of my test knitters discovered a problem in an older pattern this morning.
But all three have been corrected....and I've got my "to do" list back down to two pages...and the "want to do/write" list is still hovering at 30 something designs...
You'll be fine. I read every posting on both of your Yahoo groups. Those folks LOVE you. And, I might add, deservingly! I'm not able to tackle knitting the mystery but I'm saving all the files for someday. I really have to put my painting career first above all things despite how desperately I like to knit lace shawls.
