2010 Men's Spring Knitting Retreat - workshop ideas?

If I were to do a lace workshop at the MSKR what would people like to see included?

I mean I could blather on for hours, but I suspect people are going to want more something more along the lines of a short, concise workshop....

I'm tempted to just put together a bunch of templates and a couple of essays and tell people - peruse at your leisure and then email me....

I would like to understand a little about your design process if there's anyway you could codify that in terms of a workshop.
- designing circular lace using multiple repeating triangular patterns
- how to draw with lace
- how to keep a pattern circular
- clever little background mesh stitches that can easily be worked into a lace design
- a mind meld from Herbert Niebling

You know...just the simple stuff.

Design Process

A) dis-engage brain

B) knit

C) put what you think you did on paper

D) get approx 4000 people to proof read and try to duplicate.

Repeat steps C & D as necessary. Step A is an essential, B is optional.

Only in the Y-Space hyperganglionic subspace; in Flatland they're merely utilitarian.

I keep telling people it's the Y-space hyper-ganglionic sub-space connections.

I think you can do a basic Do you want to make lace and have people do a triangle. Maybe ideas for men prayer shawls or just plain shawls for men. How to chart a design in lace. I liked the Ideas from Joe. Lace is intimidating until you try something and then you say, Ah that's lace , is not that hard.

Andy, are you suggesting a discussion of lace followed by group sex?

Bathering for hours about lace doesn't sound like a bad idea to me. But then that will likely happen over the entire weekend.

I'm interested in charts. I think. I heard a rumor that you should be able to visualize the finished lace by looking at the chart. I can do this with crocheted lace, but seems a mystery with knitted patterns. Am I missing something? Or do I need a drink first?

I always have a Martini at 5 o'clock- shaken, not stirred.

It depends on the chart style; with some of them I see the pattern clearly; with others I have a harder time, and with some I don't see anything.
