MRMKR scheduled for July 14-17, 2011

The Men's Rocky Mountain Knitting Retreat has been scheduled!!

We're going to be at the Sunshine Mountain Lodge just south of Estes Park and bordering on Rocky Mountain National Park.

I visited the YMCA of the Rockies at Estes Park and it would be a great place for a big family reunion, conference, etc. but it was just too big and too busy in my opinion.

With a minimum of 23 people, we can have Sunshine Mountain Lodge to ourselves and get wonderful home cooked meals to boot - they even have a cookbook called Sunshine Mountain Fuel. They specialize in vegetarian/vegan/raw food but can handle anything - we could even request Colorado raised buffalo burgers I'm sure.

The couple (Cory and Cathy) have been extremely responsive and are very excited to host us. The two times I've stopped in I've gotten rave reviews from the people who were there - and the reviews from TripAdvisor are excellent too. The two negative reviews are old and I even spoke with Cathy about them when I was there last.

Some brainstorming ideas for field trips include a visit to Switzer-Land Alpacas in Estes Park, Gleason's Fine Woolies Ranch in Lyons, Schacht Spindle Company in Boulder, and Interweave Press in Loveland.

The attached document shows the layout of the lodge and cabins - you can also check out photos of the lodge and cabins (and more) at Sunshine Mountain Lodge.

I'm CRAZY excited about attending MFKR in Seattle in a couple months!!! For anyone who can't make it to either MSKR or MFKR I hope you consider MRMKR!!

Sounds great, Frank. Pressed for time today but will check into this and try to figure out a way to budget it in. Please keep us posted. --Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Joe, you must budget this in. You are so close and we need to meet you!!! You could swing it, just two days off... What else do I need to say to enable you to come???

I am percolating ideas as to how this can be pulled off. Another wrinkle is that I have my Family Reunion the next weekend in Chadron, Nebraska. Two hefty whams to the budget back to back...but I am working on it. The good thing is that we have a year to plan for it. [Well, at least 3/4 of a year.] Yes, I look forward to meeting all of you as well. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Like I said Joe, I'll drive so that would take travel expense out of the picture... Count me in now that there's dates posted. I'm going to go into work tomorow and ask for that time off to assure I have it!

Thanks, Q. That is a big relief right there. Now to budget out two big events back to back. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

when and how much?

dooh. just read the info. Unfortunately I wont be able to attend. I am originally from Colorado and Estes Park will be really nice this time of the year. It doesnt look like I will be able to attend Seattle either. Sigh. Maybe next spring I will go to the one in NY.

Ah man! Too bad. You have over a year to change your plans though. :-)

Only one year to go!! :-) It’s warm here in Denver but in Allenspark the highs are in the 70s and lows are mostly in the 50s but even dipping down into the 40s at night.
