On the spindle

I just need to show you this latest spinning. I'm quite excited about these colours. I went to the vendors at the provincial conference a couple of weeks ago specifically to buy myself a really nice spindle. There was not a one for sale! Not even one in sight!

To console myself, I had to buy some fibre. What to choose? So I got this bag of a blend of wool and soy silk in grey-pink-purple. I have to spin it on my trusty old CD spindle, and I don't mind because it does work really well. I am doing it fine (of course) and trying to keep the colours separated, but the way it was dyed in the roving makes it really hard to do. I am getting more blending of colours than I would like, but it's acceptable. I still haven't decided on how I will ply this, or with what. I'll decide that when I get there. I have 227 gm so there is still a little bit of time to think about it.

I'm really enjoying how this is spinning up. I am going through this quite fast, and I should be plying in no time at all. That is alright since I bought quite a few bags of fibre... so there is a lot of work waiting for me in the months to come.

Wow, what an interesting colorway. The spun yarn looks like perfection itself. And you're doing all this with a drop spindle? It's beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing the next step when you ply it.

Beautiful blended colors. Do you know what you are going to knit with this? Have fun with your spinning. And by the way, my second sock, of the pair, is going faster and easier. I think I could get addicted to sock making.

The colors manage to be both cheerful and demure at the same time ... and a nice shine from the silk. Would you maybe consider navajo 3-plying it to better preserve the color varigation?

Very elegant and beautiful colours. Whatever you knit with it should certainly be gorgeous.

I'm with Tom. I can't wait to see what it looks like plied. So far it's already beautiful!
