MSc thesis in why men knit!

Hi all fellow knitters

I am an MSc student at Brighton University here in the UK. I have been knitting for about 10 years and have recently started knitting original 40s patterns for my re-enactment of 1940's civilian hobby. I am training to be an occupational therapist, and have recently been doing some work within a mental health charity using stitch-based crafts as a therapeutic medium. However! I really struggled to get the chaps who used the service interested in knitting. Therefore I have decided to conduct a piece of research (15,000 words) on the meaning and motivation for knitting within male populations to try and understand better how I can use knitting therapeutically with the chaps I work with. If anyone is interested in more information or would like to be involved in some way in promoting knitting to other fellas (especially guys in the UK!!!) then I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks for reading,

I'm happy to assist in your project. It's always a pleasure to talk about knitting!

Hi Bryony,
What you are trying to do is wonderful. I just finished with occupational and physical therapy for my hip replacement and found both to be amazingly helpful. If you need any help at all, let me know. I am an English teacher and have a master's degree in education and would be happy to lend a hand proofreading if you need a pair of extra eyes.

Keep knitting and demonstrating!
