Back from vacation

My goals were:

1) sleep
2) work on knitting
3) do other stuff

Goals met.

I must admit, it amazes me the difference in speed between something done on size 5 needles and super-chunky yarn on size 14 needles. (Yes, I have a pair of size 14. And 12. I'm OCD and have access to Google.)

The black scarf is done for my partner. My newest scarf was also for him to wear on his trip back to Oklahoma, which has been delayed. However, he smokes. A lot. And my scarf is in fuzzy, loosely spun merino in a nice, open brioche rib.

I've made him something nice, which is also 75% acrylic and 25% superwash wool, so it's washable.

The purple is the Thistle Lace for my sister in law. It's almost at the end of the first ball. It's slow.

The blue stained scarf is for my brother. The coloring looks like powdered dye was just sprinkled on, which causes a cool effect. Also, you can tell which side of the yarn the dye it, which means while the pattern is reversible (only a very slight difference), but the color is a little different on both sides.

The red is something I've been slowly working for a while, but I've gone through a burst of activity. It's over half done. It's the "Winter Flame" pattern from Ravelry, but using chunky yarn on size 11 needles. It is over half way done. Blocking is an absolute requirement with this pattern, which has not been done yet. It will be more of a short stole than a scarf. It is a bit wide and a bit short, but will cross in front. (It already does so on me, and the recipient is petite.) I also have a wavy, hand-carved shawl pin to go with this.

Beautiful work, Mike!
I really enjoy how interesting and fun you have made scarves look. Congratulations on meeting your vacation goals as well.

Oh these are beautiful, I really like the "Winter Flame" the colour is sooooooo nice. I hope you don't mind if I do this as well.

Feel free! "Winter Flame" is on Ravelry, and is not mine. You can also see my project details (also user "akkamaddi"). It's Ella Rae chunky superwash wool on size 11 needles. I removed a few (I think three) repeats of the pattern so the stole would not be a blanket. And, as said, the pattern needs blocking. Also, I did a selvedge stitch on this, but I think it would be better without.

Very nice looking set of scarves. Great ideas for future projects.

Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Love 'em all! Though from now on I will take the word "washable" with a grain of salt. :)
