Knitting Bowls.

I know these are not a knit project but it was a project for knitting. I just finished making these pottery knitting bowls and want to share them with you guys. Take a look and let me know what you think.
Happy Knitting!

Hi Terry,
Those are great pieces of pottery. I'd love to find some like that. I just use my lap and the seat of the chair beside me, or just let the ball run along the floor until it takes on a life of its own. I may just go to Home Depot and get some ceramic pots that might work too. Your work is beautiful!

Thanks Mark,
I am going to be selling some at my LYS and eventually on my website. It'a another one of my fav pass times.

I love the look of your bowls. It is one of the things on my wish list. My main reason for delay is I take my knitting with me and find one of the little nylon bags available from Boye handy to stuff in my shoulder bag and take with me.

I not on one you have two holes in the second bowl ( there are two hole on the top edge. I wonder how it would work to have two holes on each side and pass a loop of leather thong through these holes. This would give a pair of handles to carry the bowl to your local S&B.

Great Work, did you throw or pour these bowls?

I use clay and use a process called slumping. I also throw some of them. Thanks for the feedback.

I will have to look into slumping. I worked in my mother's ceramic shop when I went to college, some 40 years ago. I was hidden in the basement and poured the molds. So I have some idea of the artistry that you have put into these bowls.

Again this is great work.

Those are handsome!
...are they about six inches wide?
Saw some turned wooden ones at Madrona...including a very big one for two balls. I've asked my twin to turn one for me...

The glazing on them is quite nice. Lots of interesting texture.

Hmmm... I may need one of those.

I've collected Mata Ortiz poettery for yeasr - well at least until it became too expensive to collect and I was thinking how cool a kntting bowl in this style would look.

Oooohhhh.... I love the blue and the black ones, if they are not the same bowl.

Yarn bowls are fantastic if you have the space, but then again you can fill them up with sock yarn. Sock yarn takes no space at all, just ask around. I have one that my friend Kyle gave me and is beautiful. Is nice to have something with a double function that is as beautiful as that.

Those are really amazing. Nice work.

I have a knitting bowl I got from a shop somebody around here recommended last year some time: Valerie Scherr She makes some nice ones too. (Just in case somebody can't wait 'til you get yours on sale. :-)
