Finished Vest

CLABBERS's picture

I actually finished something I can wear other than a scarf or hat! I like the way it turned out. I need to block it now that it is all done. I had already blocked it before I joined the front and the back. I really enjoyed the experience. The next project, I think, is going to be a knitted jacket made with super chunky wool that I can wear late fall and early spring. I found a nice pattern to use. I am visiting with one of my new friends from Men Who Knit in Milwaukee next weekend and we will visit a yarn shop while we are there.

Thanks to all you guys who offered me encouragement and superb advice as I tackled my first vest.

What a great looking vest and I love the yarn. You did a great job.

Thanks, Dennis. I learned a lot, got a few headaches, but the think fits...almost...and it's fairly uniform and symmetrical. I'm happy. I think I'll do a washcloth now to give my head a break.

Beautiful job! ...that's very classic and wearable.

Thanks for the compliment. It means a lot coming from you.

Looks good, and I agree, that's a good yarn.

Very nice! I love the k2p2 rib - much nicer then k1p1. But, why aren't you wearing it in the picture - I shared my fat self you should have to too! (not that your fat)

When my son took my picture wearing it, I looked as though I either constipated, or just annoyed with life. I will have to retake the picture and send it to you. I have never been a big fan of cameras.

That is AWESOME!!! How long did it take you to finish?

Hi Rick,
Great to hear from another Chicago knitter! I was surprised that it didn't take as long as I thought it would. I think I spent more time deciphering the pattern and putting off starting than I did actually knitting. I think it took me a couple weeks knitting in the evenings. I am hooking up with a fellow knitter in Milwaukee this weekend, so I will give it a good trial run. If I'll wear it over a long-sleeved Henley white shirt because the weather is supposed to be rainy and chilly. If I don't get thrown out of the restaurant, I guess I will have passed the test. It is really quite a simple pattern...and a really old one, inasmuch as there are forums about it on the Internet explaining some of the confusing parts for novices.

Thank you for your very kind words. :)

Friend, His work is perfect and beautiful. Congratulations and success.

Thanks, Antonio. I am so flattered that you like my work. It was a scary undertaking for me in that it was something new for me. Now I am madly collecting sweater patterns and knitted jacket patterns to make for myself and for some of my friends.

I used Google Translator for this, so I have no way of knowing how accurate it is. :)

Gracias, Antonio. Estoy muy halagado de que te guste mi trabajo. Era una empresa de miedo para mí que era algo nuevo para mí. Ahora estoy loco recoger los patrones de suéter y chaqueta de punto los patrones de hacer para mí y para algunos de mis amigos.
