Hi everyone.

This is my first blog entry of what, I hope, will be a long list of entries detailing my experiences of learning to knit. I just bought my first set of needles (#9s) and first skein of yarn (gauge of 4.5, charcoal grey) last week and have well over 10 inches of scarf done in just over 2 days of work. :) I figure I will be done with my first skien in another day or so. I am really enjoying it and can't wait to go shopping for more yarn. I am heading out to try and find a local yarn shop tonight and maybe sign up for some classes. Right now I am reading "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Knitting and Crocheting."

I will post a picture of my my scarf when I get back hom. It has ranged from an initial cast on of 24 stitches to a high of about 32 and back down again. I now know what to look for so the last few inches has been pretty consistent. Now, I just need to learn to keep better tension in it.

Anyway, great to be here.

Welcome aboard Gregory! The very same thing happened to me when I first started knitting. Just hang in there and check with your buddies here when you hit a snag.

You'll get lots of ideas and advice here. It's a good group of guys. I look forward to seeing what you're working on.

welcome! You and Mason should chit-chat. He's ripped out the beginnings of several scarves....(haven't we all at one time or another?)
