*le sigh*

Since I know I'm safe to post here because he doesn't read this, I just need to share a tale of woe.

So I designed and knit a scarf for the upcoming issue of MenKnit. On Friday, I had wet it down to block it and had it wrapped in a towel to dry it out, and laid the towel across the back of our couch. I had a photo shoot on Saturday and was gone for about 3 hours for it.

In his defense, I didn't tell my partner what the towel was. He's also a compulsive Virgo, which means that he NEEDS to clean.

I got home from the shoot and sat down at my computer. About 10 minutes later, I turned around to look at him where he was crocheting on the couch. I noticed that the towel was gone. In the back of my mind, I also noticed that the washing machine was running.

You can see where this is going, can't you?

In short, I screamed like a big girl, ran to the washing machine with said partner in tow with a confused look on his face, and slowly pulled the soaking wet, semi-felted scarf that I'd worked on for weeks out of the washing machine. I tried to tell him that it was as much my fault as his, but to no avail. He was devastated by it.

Ah well. I have plenty of the same yarn to make another copy of the scarf, and I have 24 hours to finish it. I should, if I knit like a fiend for the rest of the day, be able to finish it by tonight and block it by tomorrow so that I can get some good 'worn' pix (I took close-ups before I blocked the first one).

*sigh* Only my life. Only my life.

Thanks for sharing that tale. We have all had various knitting stories that, in retrospect can be funny, but were not at the time.
You can get the replacement done. Strong coffee and a knitting frenzy can accomplish it.

Ok, I don't know who I feel worse for......ugh!!! You for having to redo the whole thing...or him and his guilt?? My partner would have done the same thing...hello anal-retentive cleaner...LOL....and as such would have felt HORRIBLE.....there is "luckily" no real fault here and you WILL laugh about it later.....wish we could help! Good luck and LOTS OF CHOCOLATE AND COFFEE are in order!!

Oops. I thought you were going to say he'd ripped it out & was knitting something else! As Gabe & Knipper say, you will laugh about this later & it's great that you could vent here!

Another option... get him started knitting. He'll know to look next time, when his projects are wrapped up in a towel.

*laugh*  He is a knitter and crocheter.  He feels like total crap about it, too.  :)
