Lace Shawl

RickMartin's picture

I knit this lace shawl as a Christmas surprise for my wife. She had no clue I was knitting it. My health is really poor, and I viewed this shawl as something that I could give to her that she could wrap around herself, when I'm no longer here to wrap myself around her.
The pattern is free on Debbie Macomber's website, and is called Alix's Prayer Shawl. I knit it with 2.5 skeins of Araucania Ranco Multi on a US Size 7 needle.

Rick, what a beautiful shawl, you do lovely work. And what a beautiful sentiment to go with it. Sorry to read about your poor health.

I agree totally with Kerry. Your work and sentiments express exactly why I love knitting so much. Thank you for sharing and I hope you're with us for a good long time!

How elegant - and how moving.

What a beautiful shawl, and such a thoughtful gift for your wife. I hope you are with us for many more years, and many more pieces of work like this.

It's destined to be an heirloom piece, almost as beautiful as the sentiment behind it.
