a very basic palindromic (reversible cable) scarf.
I'm doing this in a merino/angora blend - 140 yards /50 gm on 4mm needles.
so dk to light sport weight on US 6 (4mm) is a general recommendation - I'm getting a knit gauge of about 6.5 st per inch and 5.6 rows per inch
about 5 inches wide - unblocked and 100 grms will give me a 64 inch scarf.
Cast on 34
Cross Front - 4 stitches held to front, (k1,p1) twice; (k1, p1) twice from cable needle
Cross Back - 4 stitches held to back, (k1, p1) x2; (k1, p1) x2 from cable needle
WS row: k3, (p1, k1) x 14; p1, k2
RS row: k2, (k1, p1) x15, k2
Crossover Row: k2, (k1, p1) x2; Cross front, (k1, p1) x3; cross back, (k1, p1) x2; k2
Work the WS,RS pair three times plus 1 WS row (7 rows)
Work the Crossover Row.
Repeat these 8 rows until "long enough"
end on a seventh row.

Question regarding pattern..........
You say to work the WS, RS pair three times plus 12 (?) WS rows to make 7 rows. Shouldn't it be "plus 1 WS row" to make 7 rows?

Wow...I would have never thunk that!
The name was chosen for that
The name was chosen for that reason - yes. The name is a palindrome because it's a reverfsible cable.
