Inspiration strikes in the oddest places
floor tile.
Now a shawl.
Why is it the brain never functions except when I don't *want* it too?

I kinda know what you mean.....I am seeing patterns in so many things. I just don't have enough knowledge yet to try to translate it to a real design.

Like peanuts, no?

you goof, your dry humor always makes me chuckle.

If you want to see Islamic art on fabulous tiles that will inspire you out of your mind, lemme tempt you to the shores of the Mediterranean. We also have cookies!

We're still waiting to make our first visit to Spain this year. We're definitely behind schedule. Thought we'd have been there by now.

Better late than never I always say.

Mario, has this pattern been knitted? Could it be made into a square shawl by just doubling and knitting in the round? Or would translating the K's and P's be a nightmare in the round?

MMario's picture

it hasn't been knit, yet, no - but it really is pretty basic.
MOST of the shawl is stocking stitch. there are some diagonal eyelets and a "v" of feather and fan, and just a touch of rib.

It would be easy to delete the border stitches (just ignore the first four stitches of each row)- and in the round it would just be "Knit or purl each stitch as it presents itself, knit into YO's". The other change would be to make the final single increase a double increase to match the center stitch of the charts. and ignore the final three chart stitches.

For a swuare I'd estimate 15-16 hundred yards of a fingering weight.

MMario - ambiguity is cultivated, it doesn't happen in a vacuum!
