Moving my Stash

ksmarguy's picture

So I have two dressers, a couple of baskets, a three drawer storage bin and a couple of boxes full of yarn. How much of that can I fit in my Explorer along with all my clothes, knick-knacks, and my cat when i move to Long Beach in the first week of November?

YUP! You read right, it's done, I gave my 2 month notice today at work. I am moving to Long Beach and Eric Paul and I won't have to do the long distance thing anymore We will be moving in together so the Stash will have to be combined.

Thanks again to all of you guys for supporting and encouraging us!

I think that we decided that I get all of the vicuna and he gets all of the cashmere :D (Don't we wish) Actually it won't be difficult at all.

i'm a little nervous about this combined stash. it's like throwing step-children together without letting them get to know each other first. think back to the brady bunch and their hijinks before your start merging stashes willy-nilly!!

congratulations, boys. love is always wonderful news.

I bet Franklin would be willing to let them hire Delores as a Nanny.

Oh, I don't know about that...Franklin barely survives Delores in his household. I shudder to think what she'd be like if let loose on our own dear fellows. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

What extra good news!
By the time you get settled in, it'll be time to get into high gear with all your holiday knitting, so maybe you can both bust a little mutual stash that way, lol!

Joe-in Wyoming's picture

Like I said before...I feel like a proud godfather. I've been expecting this grand news for the past few weeks. Blessings on both of you and may you have a wonderful life together. As to stash...I can't say anything as mine is totally out of control. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

I hope the move goes swiftly, the unpacking is easy and the change well worth any bumps you hit in the road.

Fantastic news, guys - Congrats!!!

Congratulations... and it's about time! :-) You're not getting a husband, you're doubling your stash! ::grins::

When I moved 2 years ago, moving my stash took one trip of filling my Chevy Tracker completely. The back hatch, back seat, passenger front seat were all filled. Fortunately I was only driving 5 minutes away.

My suggestions: 1. Cull the stash, do you really need to move that Red Heart acrylic or Fun Fur? 2. Stuff the boxes and containers full and strap them closed. 3. Might want to look into those Space Age Storage bags that you can vacuum the air out of and flatten. 4. Pack and ship things.

Good luck with the move.

OMG I am so happy for you two!!! YAY! This is the best news I've heard all week. GRATS!
As for fitting all your stuff in your car. you could do what I did if you know someone with a food saver or have one yourself. In order to take my yarn with me I got the bags who are on a roll. and just cut them to fit in my suitcase, loaded it up with yarn and sucked all the air out. it saved TONS of space and the yarn pops right back to it's original shape when I opened them up again.

Those Space Saver Bags that you use a vacuum with would also work.

Good Idea!

I've yet to move a stash (although I suppose the day will eventually arrive when it comes to that).. I think something like these seem like the way to go....

Grace and Peace,

Don't ship!!!

Oh wait, before I get into that, congratulations guys! I hope you all the best.

As for the yarn, when I packed up from my cold and frigid home in Alaska and drove to Casper Wyoming (3,000 mi in 4 days), I shipped most of my belongings, and for whatever reason, my only missing boxes when I got them all, were my stash.

Oh well, I even hope you the best when it comes to movinging. Soome guys should have it all. Yarn and love.
