My next door neighbor bought me a spinning wheel. It's a Dutch wheel called Edammertje, one I've never heard of. I see a lot of them on ebay for relatively cheap prices and I understand they're not any of the "big name" wheels, but being that I don't have one and I haven't actually learned to spin yet, it'll be good for learning and practice while I decide if I want to invest in it further. I'm super happy!
I've put it together and have practiced a bit of treadling just to get a feel for how that's done. I'd made plans back in November with a woman I know to teach me to spin on a wheel. We had planned to start after the holidays. I'm hoping I can get some pre-class studying in before we start. I picked up the "Alden Amos Big Book of Handspinning" and "Spin Control" a couple of months ago to read first. I just need to get something to practice with!
