It has been soooooo long since I have posted anything. Sorry for the absence! Life has just been crazy and between work and an anniversary vacation to Santa Fe and Taos....there has been little time for hopping on here and saying hi!
Welcome to all the newbies!
And the not-so-newbies will probably remember I was working on that "killer" (not all in a good way) sweater for Allan. The irregular rib raglan.....ugh! IT IS FINISHED!!!!!! YEAH!!!! It soooo should not have been my first sweater. I will get some photos of it and post them soon...I have started a new cardigan/vest for my mother for Christmas and it is so easy! My first time with intarsia and I think I love it.
Anyhoo, just wanted to let you all know I'm still here...I'm sure you have been chomping at your nails with worry....LOL
Until later, hugs, gabriel

I should know by now that not everything in life is fun and exciting. However, I am really hating this sweater I have been working on FOREVER!!!!!!!!!! It's for my partner, a few of you may remember me griping about it earlier,.....but I find myself knitting a few rows per evening and then putting it down....it is an irregular rib pattern...that takes a little more concentration than other projects. I know some would say i should just let it go and go on to something I enjoy....but Allan is loving the way it looks and really so am I....I just hate doing it. I have told myself I'm not starting anything else until I finish it....just for motivation. I guess I will just "two-row-a-night" it until I get there. Anyone else have this issue???? I need words of encouragment....please!

I am making plans to attend the Madrona Fiber Arts Festival in Feb this coming year, in Tacoma, WA. Has anyone ever been??? A friend of mine lives in Gig Habor, WA and invited me to attend with her. I am sooooo excited, but would love to hear from anyone who has heard of it and/or attended. From what I have read and heard they have fiber vendors and classes on everything from spinning to knitting and BEYOND! So...let me hear from you.
Always knit for fun!!!!

Thank you for all the input. The class was frustrating to say the least. I stood up in the middle of class and reminded them all you could buy the socks at shops all over the city and it would be so much less work. LOL Everyone laughed and we went on. I got home last night and became obsessed....I switched from 3 needles to 4 and that was the ticket for me....my hands are bigger than theirs and the four needles gave me more flexiblity. Those little women have small paws!!! Anyway....so far, I am flying on them! Yeah!
BTW, did anybody Tivo the new Martha yesterday??? They had a lady that is the fastest crocheter in the world.....she does 130 double crochets in 3 minutes.....it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. I got a little motion sickness watching her.....

I'm taking a cashmere sock class this afternoon! I'm a little nervous....do socks (or double pointed needles) scare anyone else??? Anyway I will report on how it goes and if I will be a sock maker or not!!! If any of you are sock pros I would love to have some feedback.
Happy knitting everyone!

Hey there Guys,
Just a note to show you the progress on the scarf I showed you earlier. Yes, I couldn't wait until the plane ride that I purchased it for....had to start. It is sooooo addictive. BTW....I have had many ask for it and the book the pattern is in is Donna Kooler's "Encyclopedia of Knitting." I'm leaving Thursday and have vowed to not touch it again until my ass is on the plane. My boyfriend is getting frustrated.....for a couple of reasons...LOL....but mainly that I promised him his sweater by fall.....of course I didn't say of what year!!!! LOL
Hope this finds you all well, Gabriel

This is the first entry I have made. I hope I'm doing it right. I fell in love with a cool pattern this weekend. I am headed to L.A. in a few weeks and can't take my Addi Turbo's on the plane. Ugh!!!! Since I am using them on a sweater, I set out to find something else that I can use the plastics on. I went to the local knit shop and the owner walked up and said I had to see this......It was a scarf......(I know, I know, how boring!!! )But this one caught my eye. It looks like basketweave....the direction at which you stitch the scarf creates an interlocking that looks like the whole piece is woven.....I am knitting it out of Noro Silk Garden, so the varigation in the yarn will create a blocks of color in the scarf.....I chose the brown/purple/apple green combo...(that doesn't sound so good when I write it out...LOL.......the one in the photo is Silk Garden too but it was a little too Screaming Rainbow Queer for me....I am in Oklahomo, ya know!!!!!.............After looking at the picture in the pattern book and comparing it to what she had done...I realized that they had blocked it for the photo.....It loses it's texture when you do that.....so I won't be doin' that! I am going to try to attatch a photo of the first couple of rows and let you see the start of it....If you are interested in finding the pattern let me know and I will get the name of the book. I enjoy reading about you guys. Keep the info coming.
