I finally figured out how to work the card reader and memory card for my camera. [A greatly appreciated gift from Quinton, as you may recall.]

To all my dear friends and fellow MWKers -
May you all have many Blessings through this Holiday Season and the coming New Year. Whether you celebrate the Solstice [like me], Christmas, Hanukkah [which was early this year], Kwanzaa, New Year, Lunar New Year or whichever and whatever your heart desires - or even not at all - I wish you Peace and Happiness in the time ahead.

Happy Thanksgiving Day to all the fellows here at MWK. I hope you all have a great day and can spend time with good friends and/or family.
As for being thankful: I'm taking a cue from the homework a friend's daughters had to complete and making a list of some knitting related things I'm grateful about -

A few days ago, I mentioned an afghan that became a bedspread as part of my comment on Quinton's excellent post about how to say "No" when asked to knit something.
Nehkhasi said he'd like to read about it...so, my friend, this is for you:

Just a reminder that the Men's Knitting Retreat in Allenspark, CO is less than two months away. It goes from 18 - 21 of July.
Last I knew, we were only at half capacity - or less - so there are lots of chances for you to still register for a great weekend in the Rocky Mountains. Go to the Men's Knitting Retreats website, or the links through the RMMKR page on Ravelry's MKR group.

Hey guys -
According to the Ravelry forum on knitting retreats , there are still quite a few slots open for the Men's Retreat in Allenspark, CO [just up the mountain from Estes Park] for July 18 - 21, 2013.

I have discovered a variation on Magic Loop knitting that I really like: Traveling Loop.
Instead of making 2 loops at the starting and halfway points in your knitting, you just make the one loop at the beginning. [I cross the cable over itself to close the loop.] Then, as you knit, the loop stays in one place and moves around the knitted piece.

Had a most frustrating evening last night. I finally made it to the toe of the sock I've been struggling to finish, trying it on to check the fit.
Then, taking it off, the cast on edge snapped.
Not figuring out any way to repair it, I frogged almost 2 1/2 months of intermittent knitting; washed the resulting skein, and plan to rewind it so as to start all over again.

Another great time was had by all who attended this year's Retreat. It was a smaller group than last year - 13 vs. 20 - but the company and camaraderie were in no way diminished. We had a long field trip on Friday but the gorgeous scenery of Rocky Mountain National Park and other areas of Colorado when we took various breaks more than made up for it. [As did shopping at the Lonesome Stone Spinning Mill].
