I knew I was going to have a night in Istanbul on my way home to St. Louis from Beirut. I thought I would contact Dave and ask for some recommendations for places to go.

No, I'm not auditioning for Peter Pan. I'm wondering who has the latest skinny on flying with knitting needles? Does it vary from airline to airline and place to place?

I was wondering if any of you have ever knitted for, or know anything about the Red Scarf Project conducted through the Orphan Foundation of America (www.orphan.org). They solicit hand-knitted scarves (in the month of January) in shades of red to give to 18-23 year olds who were formerly in foster care, and now are trying to go to college without the benefit of a family for support. Interweave Knits is one of the co-sponsors, and the foundation is listed with the Better Business Bureau, so I assume they are a fine organization. I thought, perhaps, some of you might have personal experience with this project and could share more information with me.

I thought I remembered that not too long ago people were looking for NeedleMaster sets. Knitpicks.com is selling their remaining sets at 50% off--$39.99. I suppose now that they have their Options line of needles, they're looking to unload their stock of NeedleMaster. It's a pretty good deal for anyone in the market for a set.

No, I'm not selling anything. I am, however, a compulsive shopper where knitting is concerned (and shoes, and clothes, and cds . . . ). I came across a couple of new things that I thought might be of interest, if you didn't already know about them.
I was looking for dog sweater pattern books on Amazon.com and ran into "Men Who Knit & The Dogs Who Love Them : 30 Great-Looking Designs for Man & His Best Friend" by Annie Modesitt and Drew Emborsky (Hardcover - Jan 28, 2007). No, it's not yet available, but it looks like something you might want to keep an eye out for if you have dogs for whom you like to knit. I have 3 schnauzers, so I'm anxious to see what this book has to offer.
