I just got word via email that one of the LYSs in Spokane, Washington is for sale. I don't have any details, but if any of you are interested, here's their website:

So here I am working on the so called scarf knit along, and I just have to wonder, did I misread the pattern or what?

I was in Spokane WA yesterday and stopped in at Paradise Fiders. Whoa. Knowledgeable, friendly staff and stock like you wouldn't believe. Yarn, needles, books, vidoes, DVDs. Definately a "no frills" setting though. 99% of their business is done online, so if you stop by, you're in a warehouse and in order to checkout, you take your purchases over to Travis who sits behind a computer monitor responding to internet orders. I know someone on MWK has already highly recommended this business for online orders, I'd just like to add they're also a nice bunch to stop by and see in person.

My birthday was last month, and I got two books, Knitting w/Balls, which a number of guys have mentioned already, and (the recently released, just arrived in the mail today) "Men Who Knit and the Dogs that Love Them." I haven't had much of a chance to look through the new book yet, but from what I've seen it's going to be a good one. It's nearly 100% sweaters for man and beast alike. Now I love my dogs as much as the next guy loves his dog, but a hand knitted sweater for a dog? For me that would be a little over the top, but different strokes I guess. In the meantime, regarding the patterns for men's sweaters, it would appear there's a wide variety of sweaters covering a whole range of ability levels, which for me means there may be one easy enough for me to knit!

I finished my first pair of socks. With any luck, I've attached a picture.

Here's my final try at posting a pic of that dang hat.

Every morning when I walk my kids to school, we go past a kid on safety patrol who's not wearing a hat, so I made him one. Here's a picture of my son modeling it. Basic, but warm!

Just thought I'd quit lurking and say hello. I've recently taken up knitting (again!) but still haven't done anything more complicated than a baby blanket or two, and a few hats. I dream of the day I will have enough skill to do a sweater and enough stamina to do an afghan, but for now I'm working on my first sock. I'm glad to have found the group and look forward to learning what I can from the various interactions.
