messenger bag questions

I fly frequently and have not been able to find a carryon that fit TSA guidelines and carried what I needed so I decided to make my own. I have the front bottom, back and flap done in one five foot piece but I am starting the sides which will also act as the strap.
What is going to be my best way to connect it.
1. sew them together
2. is there a way to knit it to the other piece as I go?

has anyone else came across this and how well does the seam hold together once it is felted?

love to hear your advise

Well let me start out by saying I found kniting completely by accident and I am hooked. Well I found this really neat yarn store near my house about 6 months ago and all the ladies have been so nice really teaching me a lot. On monday and wednesday they offer this class creative knitting where you go with your project and pay 15.00 and they help you with any problems. I am currently working on a messenger bag that I plan on felting. I showed up on wednesday with my project and my 15.00 and I walked to the counter and said I was here for the creative knit and the lady came out of the class and said oh I am sorry we are full. ( I was the only one in the store part and there was 2 people in the classroom. I very graciously asked oh was I supposed to reserve in advance, she said no but we only allow so many people in the class. I thought oh ok no big deal thats fine so I went over and was browsing the yarn and I heard another lady walk in and ask about the class and the lady behind the counter said oh there is still room go on in.... Who would of thought in this day and age people would still do this kind of thing. Needless to say I put my yarn back walked out of the store. I really didnt think it was going to bother me but it has. i have been fuming over it now for morte than a day. I just can not get over that it happened to me. Well, anyways I will never step foot in that shop again.

Hello!

Just posting to say a quick hello to everyone. I've been here a few days now, but never had a chance to post. I'm hoping to exchange some cool ideas with all of you. Drop me a line - say hi. I love making new friends.

I can't stop

A friend who is in "Recovery" recently went through some AA stuff with me replacing yarn for alcohol. I am here to testify, with all due respect to those in recovery, that I am a knitaholic:

Answer YES or NO to the following questions.

1 - Have you ever decided to stop knitting for a week or so, but only lasted for a couple of days? (~Yep)

2 - Do you wish people would mind their own business about your Knitting stop telling you what to do? (~Yep....just ask FuzzyJay: I snapped at him in chorus practice for interrupting my knitting.)

3 - Have you ever switched from one kind of yarn to another in the hope that this would keep you from knitting so much? (~ I thought knitting in cotton or acrylic would slow me down. It did, but not enough, not enough.)

4 - Have you had to have an eye-opener upon awakening during the past year? (I have a hat-in-progress on my beside table)

5 -Do you need to knit to get started, or to stay awake, pay attention? This is a pretty sure sign that you are not knitting "socially." (I knit in chorus rehearsal, church, traffic jams)

6 - Do you envy people who can knit without getting into trouble? (I got in trouble for knitting while singing in chorus rehearsal).
