I have started a new sweater with a Faroese allover design that I found in Sheila McGregor's "Scandinavian Knitting". I like the squareness of the design as it has both horizontal and vertical aspects. I am using Jamieson and Smith Shetland wool and 3.5mm needles. I am getting 7 stitches to the inch. I usually use 3.00mm needles for Fair Isle but just finished a vest (will post it when blocked) using 4.00 mm needles and rather like the drape of the material. This is a halfway experiment to see which of the three I prefer.
