here we go..

Well I said I was going to put down the needles for January and just enjoy the beach

Didn't quite happen that way!! Surprise surprise.

Anyhow... I finished off the 4ply v-neck (Erika Knigh). I really like it, fits well and came together without any real dramas. This was my practice run as prety soon I am going start one in a much darker colour for my man.

Then - started (and finished) a cable scarf for my best girlfriend.... it was her 40th (she got something from Tiffany's too). The wool was a hand painetd yarn from New Zealand. the patern is a really subtle cable from Stitch n Bitch. So my first cables were a success! (double whew)

Not great photos - sorry about that, they don't really do them justice.

Both of these are really nice. I especially like the fully fashioned neck shaping on the sweater. Where did you get the hand painted yarn?

The hand painted yarn is beautiful, so vibrant. I really like the sweater. What yarn did you use and what pattern? It looks so soft and comfortable.

Well done on both- the scarf is absolutely stunning!

Those are both fantastic!! That sweater looks perfect and seems to fit you perfectly!! Congrats on a job well done - enjoy the second sweater! And enjoy summer - it's like an icebox here in Denver.

Again I find myself inspired by knitted items seen on MWK. The guys on this site do amazing work.

Your sweater looks perfect and the colors in your best GF's scarf are just sublime.

Wow, that sweater is amazing. It is a perfect fit and looks so comfortable. The scarf is also beautiful. It looks like the yarn was made especially for it.

That sweater looks "machine made" !!!

Scarf is very very cool -- colors and cables.

Sweater is nice, never been a fan of v necks, but the color is very cool.

Great Job, Nice Work!!

Looks like you did a great job on both of them. Is the NZ yarn by Anna Gratton?

Very nice work on both the sweater and the scarf. The play between the colors of the scarf and the cable is quite intriguing. As to enjoying the beach...why not take an easy project with you? That way, you get to enjoy both. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Wow Gents - thanks for all the encouragement!! I was pretty chuffed when they both worked out well.

100 points to Kerry! Mate you picked the wool first off – yes it is Anna Gratton, the colours looked amazing when it was hanging there in the shop and although I had not planned on this project I just could not help but buy it then work out what to do with it!

Thanks again boys
