Spinning and Watching the Playoffs

Stan Stansbury's picture

I had a great day parked on the couch, watching the playoffs and spinning. At one point my partner mentioned that it seemed like an odd combination. I laughed and started to wonder how odd it really is. Anybody else out there knit/weave/spin and watch football? I do it all the way through football season.

I do it with football (soccer) in Mexico and hockey in Canada.

Hi Stan,
I do the same here, watch/listen to the games while working on knitting projects. Disappointed that the Packers lost, but, it was a fun game to watch. Next up, Baseball season and more knitting.

Can't sit there in silence while I'm spinning! I don't watch the sport or anything I need to concentrate on, so usually put on a dvd that I've seen before.

Only when a game irritatingly runs over into the 60 Minutes time slot. I still can't understand how 2:34 minutes on the clock can take 30 minutes to play. It is good to knit to however, since I'm not really paying attention.

My roommate (gurl) and I used to sit on the couch and knit while watching Hockey...Knitting and Rangers games...there was a lot of yelling at the television...but the needles never stopped!

we Quickly learned, however, that lace knitting and Hockey do NOT go together.

I usually knit to be able to stand watching football! Or, to be more honest, to make the pretence of being interested in the sport to begin with. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

I think we're twins by different parents, separated at birth (or previously).

My twin and I have a running commentary about our evil imaginary triplet "Skippy". While I don't think you quite fit the description - much nicer than he - you might be our quadruplet. ;-) And you knit...a big advantage over the twin and Skippy. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

You are not alone! I like to watch football, but it's WAY better if you've got something to knit during all the time-outs, half time etc... I have to admit I look up quite a bit to check out the players... especially if they are wearing white... and it's raining... ; )

LOL! Yesterday, I got out of bed, fed my mare and cleaned her stall, jacked up the truck, pulled the dead starter from it, biked to the bus stop, loaded up the bike on the bus, knit a hat on my trip into town, got my new starter at the shop, finished knitting the hat on the bus trip back home, put the new starter in (SUCCESSFUL! I NOW HAVE A RUNNING TRUCK AGAIN), exercised my mare, and worked on a commissioned knit project while watching a DVD of Sense and Sensibility.
