In about 5 months I have knit a total of 1 foot on a simple ribbed scarf, which translates to knitting about 10 rows once a week or less and months at a time where I haven't knit 1 stitch. Basically, my obsession with knitting has ended.
Or so I thought.
Well, I finally got the inspiration to make a hat for my boyfriend, Andrew (who crochets by the way), and I got started on it yesterday. I started the hat on dpns - my preferred method - and it has enough "stuff" in the pattern to keep me interested. Finally, I have found that feeling again which pulls at my heart strings and makes my hands fidgety until I pick the knitting back up again.
The pattern is called "Botanic Hat" and can be found on Ravelry. (Unfortunately, it isn't free.) Pictures of my progress will follow once I have more of the hat finished, and after I find my camera.
I also want to take this opportunity to brag on the bf. My mother came into town yesterday with a friend of hers, who I taught to knit; she picked it up quicker than anyone I've seen and had the most consistent stitches for a beginner, btw. While they were in town, Andrew cooked dinner for them. The menu was stuffed chicken and tortellini with sundried tomato pesto on both. And pound cake with a cinnamon brown sugar crumble on top for dessert. It. Was. So. Good. I just have to say that even though I've only been dating him for about 2 months, I've found a keeper. And mother dearest approves as well :-) If any of you guys live in New York, I'm probably going to end up there next year. It's where Andrew is going to grad school, and I need to find a job there.
