Some firsts

Dear gents,

At last, I've finished my first full size knitted item for me - Rowan's Nevis cardigan - which seemed to take for ever to sew up. Thanks to Craig for all his sewing up tips.

And my first Fairisle item - a beret.

Have a good weekend all

Very nice job on both. I love the soft colors of the cardigan. The beret is really an eye stopper. Good work.

Both those items look quite perfect...I'm sure if anyone realizes either of them are hand-made, you will have MANY requests to make them both again.

You look fantastic in that sweater and the red in that Fair Isle beret is rich and beautiful.

Very nice work. Your sweater is perfect. I love the cables, they're discreet and the zipper looks professionally sewn in. You did great finishing. The beret is also beautiful fairisle work with great colors.
I don't know how you guys feel about wearing your garments but I don't save mine I wear them all the time and I find our hand made items much sturdier than others. So go for it!

Wow! Once again I'm Soooooo envious of you guys who can make something that is not only beautiful but fits!!!

Wow! They don't look like firsts at all. Truly beautiful work! The beret is beautiful and the cardigan looks like you've been making them for years. Congratulations!

Two great pieces of work David. Can you give details of the yarn used for the sweater? It certainly does not look like a first attempt.

Great projects, David. Way beyond my ken but one day.... I especially liked the beret. It’s an inspiration. Haven’t a clue how to make a hat myself yet but, like I say, one day.... And hopefully not a day too far off. I’m taken away completely with all things Fair Isle. All the best, Tom

I love the combination of the cabling along with that colorway. Both projects came out beautifully!

Have been knitting for years. I knit continually then will try another craft, but will return to the needles.
