New on the Times Union Fiber Arts Blog

Here's my latest contribution to the Fiber Arts Blog on our local newpaper's website.

Have you ever met someone new and immediately felt liek you've known them forever? Harriet is one of those people. As it turns out, one of my co-workers at DOT has known her for years and I fould out about it just casually mentioning that there was going to meet a woman named Harriet who was going to each me. Further proof that all of the different circles of my life connect with others at some point, even if I don't know about it.

I've done some pre-Harriet practice and some post Harriet practice and the difference really is amazing. There's a picture below of a basket full of some of my practice. Plus a picture of something I've been listening too while I spin. (there was a new CD that came out in November that the hubby is giving me for Valentine's day and I can't wait!)

Anyway, I've been having a F*CKING BLAST with my wheel. I absolutely love it! Even though it's not a "brand name" wheel, I will always treasure it. However, there's

something I saw
in the latest copy of Spin Off that made me drool profusely....

Now you're inspiring me! I need it...with the projects I've been working on, I haven't gotten around to spinning since the first big snowstorm. The article was a treat. Keep it up!

As always, you are good with your hands. Good looking work and what is more important.... you look like you are enjoying the heck out of it.

And who cares about brand names. I say, you just name it anything you want, it's your baby.

It's just a big stuffed bolster. Comes in handy when one needs a little help being propped up in certain positions.

But today I came home with a new chair that's just the right height. I lugged it back to work at lunchtime from the Christmas Tree Shop at mall across the street. It's pretty sturdy and well built. Kinda odd considering that store usually has pretty cheap stuff. They seem to have gotten better over the past couple years though.

Very nice work, Aaron. Keep enjoying your wheel...brand name really hasn't a thing to do with whether a wheel is just right for you. I had a friend say she preferred her humble Louet over a Kromsky, despite being a less expensive wheel. The proof is in the product and you are making some gorgeous yarn. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
