My Latest Project

Slipped Stitch's picture

Thought I'd take a moment and share my current project. This is the tree of life afghan from the Lion Brand website. So far I've been having a blast with it. This is my most difficult undertaking since I began knitting a year ago. Has anyone else knit this pattern before? Anything I need to watch out for? Thanks and Happy Knitting!! what a beautiful afghan.... what sze of needles are u using and what type of yarn?

Joe-in Wyoming's picture

I recently was shown an afghan where the knitter took the tree motif and did one repeat as an accent in the overall design. I found it very effective in breaking up the monotony of an all garter stitch piece. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Thanks for your feedback guys. In answer to your questions, I'm using Red Heart yarn (color=Honey) on size US 8 needles. The size of the afghan will be About 48 x 58 in. (122 x 147.5 cm). The skill level of the pattern is "Experienced", however if you are comfortable using a cable needle I don't think you'd have a problem working this one.

The afghan looks BEAUTIFUL! I've been eyeing that pattern for like a year now! Great job!

If some sissy tried to kick my ass I would say, "Hey, Mary, go knit me a sweater before I slap you in the face!”

I did that same afghan with a few minor modifications, and loved it to! (until the "ex" left it in his car and trashed it.....) It's surprising the way the tree pattern comes up as you knit it.
Nice job!
