Weekend Project

kevslocum's picture

This weekend, I was just sitting at my desk, bored and had nothing to do. Then out of the corner of my eye, I say this ball of yarn staring at me intently. I looked over at it for a few minutes, and then I knew I had to make something out of it. So I went on Ravelry and found the pattern for the Boneyard Shawl and turned this ball of Vivo 80% Wool, 20% Nylon into something wearable and worthwhile. Of course, I had to borrow two of its buddies too, but all in all it turned out to be a pretty fun (and easy) weekend project.

Looks great!
I'm using the boneyard pattern as a starting point...striping two different shades of yarn in two row stripes...skipping the pearl rows...and will knit an "Owl" border when I get to the last two inches.
I really like the idea of the small triangle scarf...rather than a six foot long scarf...

Kevin - if I didn't admire your knitting and energy so much - I could easily hate you for your speed and skill.

MMario - I'm not divorced from reality - we're having a trial separation

Nice modeling of a very nice knitted object.

I loved hearing how easily you were inspired by just a glimpse of yarn.

I made a boneyard for myself. It's a very cool easy no brainer kind of a scarf. Love it.

Ok Kev, I'm off to look up that pattern.... I have a boatload of excess yarn staring me in the face. Thanks for the inspiration.

I keep my yarn in 7 totes, 2 nightstands and 2 end tables, the closet by the front door and 3 knitting bags next to the bed because I can't stand to have them stare at me. Jeez, I have 4 projects going already...what do they expect me to do? Give up my 6 hrs of sleep at night??? Now if I could just keep them quiet. (Damn, there go those voices again! "Pick ME! PICK ME!!!")

Great job Kevin! The shawl looks great! The only thing I didn't like about the one I made was giving it away. I need to make another and keep it for myself.

Kevin, your Boneyard looks great, such a good pattern. I made one but it took much longer than a weekend :) I'm currently making the same designer's (Stephen West) Daybreak scarf.

Oooo, Kerry, I can't wait to see it! I love that one too!
