From Fleece to Yarn

Crafty Andy's picture

One of the members from here Stan, was kind enough to give me some fleece for me to play with. The fleece color is cocoa llike. I am trying to make yarn at a dk or worsted weight and it is coming out nicely. I am actually trying to make a tweed look with different colors of Alpaca. I made my leader yarn with some Jacob wool .
One of the things I can tell you is that drop spindle spinning is good spinning , but it requires dedication and practice. I hope you like the picture and there will be more to come. I am actually carding this cocoa color fleece and making some yarn. Thanks for stopping by!

Wow! Awesome, Andy! Beautiful looking yarn.

That is a beautiful spindle! and a very nice single. I love that colour.

Very nice, Andy. I usually encourage people to try a spindle first so thay can see if they like spinning enough to continue. Besides, I think it is the best way to learn the basics of drafting before having to mix in treadling. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
