Finished up some projects

I knit a sweater for my friend Miguel while I was in Mexico but just blocked it a couple of days ago. It is made with Jamieson and Smith Shetland wool that I ordered from Scotland in the colour Old Rose (#9097) and 3.25 mm needles. I knit in the style of Elizabeth Zimmermann from the bottom up and I think I would start the opening a little lower if I were to do this again. Also finished up the March socks and included them with the January and February ones for a picture. I'll give a pair of them to my brother as a birthday gift.

Beautifully done- that color looks great on Miguel! Do you prefer knitting from the top or bottom up?

Either way is fine with me. I do find, though, that I like V necks decreased from the bottom rather than increased from the top.

That sweater looks great on him - and the colour has his name, so to speak. No wonder he looks so happy!

That sweater is just gorgeous and the neck opening is just perfect as you have done it - IMHO.

Maybe a stupid question bit when using the bottom up Elizabeth Zimmerman what did you do when you got to the v neck opening? Did you steek or did you start working back and forth instead of in the round?

ronhuber's picture

I steeked, but you could just work back and forth. My tension is really different when I have to purl so I try not to combine the two types in one piece.

Ron, you've done it again, a beautiful sweater for Miguel and it fits him well and your stockinette stitch looks perfect. And a lovely collection of socks. Bravo. Which EZ book did the sweater come from?

ronhuber's picture

It was just something I put together using her ideas.

Very nice knitting, Ron. Lucky Miguel has a great looking sweater and more socks for whomever. Congrats. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
