OT: Oscar Romero

This is rather off topic, but today is the 30th anniversary of the murder/martyrdom of the Archbishop of El Salvador, Oscar Romero. He was one who unveiled the ugly truth to which the powerful of his country and the world were blind and spoke out for the poor and marginalized. May society no longer be blind to the outcasts and impoverished in our world today.

As a person who has held social justice issues dear for most of my life, I mourn and honor those caring souls who dared to speak out against injustice and paid the ultimate price for their bravery. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Wow, thirty years. I remember I was in school studying for my comps when we got the news of his death. May others continue to witness as he did because the world still does not see the poor and oppressed in our midst!
