Turned the heel

This is an update on my socks, progressing slowly. This is knit with my own handspun using the CD spindle. I really like this yarn! It's very nice to work with, hasn't been splitting for me and the yarn is quite consistent throughout, which is important.

I have turned the heel. These are knit from the toe up, so I did a small gusset in preparation to turning the heel. I like the slip-stitch heel flap, so that is what I did -- in reverse. It makes a nice heel. You can only tell if you look carefully at the direction of the 'Vs' of the stitches to know the direction it was knit.

Now, on to the boring part of the leg!

turning a heel is fun! arguably the coolest part of making a sock. :)

Nice handspun, and you seem to have been able to eliminate that dreaded hole on the side at the top of the gusset.

Very good looking socks, Tallguy. That handspun encourages me to keep spinning away on mine to get to "homespun socks" level, then "laceweight". -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
