Finally I have a finished object to show off. This is a sweater I made for a friend who is having a baby next month. Its made out of 100% baby alpaca and is unbelievably soft. The matching bonnet is currently on the needles and I will post another pic when that is finished. For now, enjoy the sweater and leave me plenty of comments telling me how brilliant I am. :) j/k.

Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!
...the yoke is wonderful!

Thanks, Bill! It was a pattern in a Leisure Arts book called Leaves and Lace. I liked it because it was so simple it was just about elegant. Most of the other baby patterns I looked at were just too frilly for my tastes.

Garter stitch baby sweaters are so wonderful because they can add months of wear. They seem to have an elegant stretch. I like the yoke on the one you made.

The sweater is beautiful. You are motivating me to start my first.

That is a great looking sweater. The yoke pattern is very unique and I like it a lot. Hmmm...I wonder if it could be adapted to a larger sized youngster? -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

I agree with ronhuber. This is a really tasteful use of garterstitch. It gives added contrast to the yoke and really makes it pop. Well done. This is a lovely sweater.

Thanks, guys! The bonnet is about 3/4 done so I'll update with a photo or photos when that is done as well. The pattern is in a Leisure Arts book called Leaves and Lace and I highly recommend it. The patterns are clearly written and easy to understand. Plus I've never had a problem with errata in any of their stuff.

That is an exceptional design, and you picked the perfect yarn for it. I've worked with kid alpaca, and the silky softness must make this cute little jacket both beautiful and a delight to knit with.
