My first sweater...

Well, I'm "finished" with my first sweater, which I started in January. I've been knitting a lot of other little things since I started, and I could see on the sweater how my knitting has improved with all the practice. You can see from the picture that this didn't exactly turn out as expected. Oh well...I know I'll try again - probably next winter.

It looks GREAT! And I love how versatile it is! It could also be worn as a hat, a scarf, a lab throw... I think that the first one of anything is the most difficult. Keep your thought of trying again, when you have a finished sweater you will wear it proudly especially if you enjoyed knitting it. Next winter you will pull out some more yarn, a pattern, start knitting and before you know it the sweater will be done. Beautiful colors in that yarn, by the way.

LOL...Yes, the yarn colors are great, but trust me, it didn't look so great in knitted form. I'm not giving up, though!

You will need a sweater in San Francisco in June! Mark Twain said the coldest Winter he ever spent was a Summer in San Francisco! June Opera season is very cold at night.

What a delightful post, Patrick! Reminds me of a quote I borrowed, and adapted, from a friend of mine who is a weaver [with permission, of course]: "I'm a conceptual knitter...I think about it all the time." -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

It was good to meet you too, Brady. It's great to know some other local men knitters!
