Finished my first sweater and pictures!!!

Well, here it is, in all its glory, it is still blocking right now but I couldnt wait to post pictures!! Knitting a sweater wasn't as bad as I thought, just took a long time! However, the seaming issue never quite got worked out, I did follow the suggestions on my previous blog and I ripped the seaming I had out and re-did it with an invisible garter seam. I dont think it looks too bad but hopefully my seaming skills will improve with the more seaming projects I do. I kind of wish I had made the "L" size the pattern offered rather than the "XL" I made the XL because I know I knit really tight and my measurements were in the middle of Large and Xtra Large, But now its pretty baggy on me, so it might be gifted to my dad, but then again it would make a really nice comfy winter sweater. So we'll see what happens with it. Let me know what you guys think! BTW, I had to fold it that way because I didn't want the sleeves to hang over the sides of the cushion and stretch out!

Looks very nice. Congratulations on your first sweater. May there be many more to follow!

Congratulations, that's a great accomplishment!

If you want to get a better custom fit on future projects, look into using the % system in Elizabeth Zimmerman's books or in "Knitting in the Old Way" by Priscilla A. Gibson Roberts. I too am often in between sizes in patterns and found that by using the % system I could easily make a sweater based on my own measurements.

You did a beautiful job and I especially like the collar. You should be very proud of yourself. It is quite an accomplishment. I second the suggestion to get Elizabeth Zimmermann's "Knitting Without Tears". No more sweaters that don't fit.

Congrats on the sweater. I have only made the baby sized ones. One day I will try one in an adult size. Love the body of the sweater and the collar. Great Job.

It looks awesome.
I hope my first would look as good.

Congratulations on your first sweater. It looks really nice.

VERY nice!!!

One thing about it, ripping does build character.

...and you know, you could follow the very same pattern with the very same yarn and the very same needles, and no two will ever come out alike. That's the absolute beauty of sweater knitting.

Good luck on future sweaters.
