The reason why I havn't been sleeping well...

So a couple of my knitting group buddies decided to start a knitalong for a simple triangular shawl... I made this one for me as a neck scarf (Pattern is called Lavalette, and can be found on Ravelry):
Lavalette 1

For some odd reason, after making this very simple scarf... I started CRAVING to knit some lacework... I normally don't have the patience for lace... but I've just been itching to knit it so I thought I could find some sort of quick lace project and found a pattern called 198 Yards of Heaven:

Both were started and finished int he span of about a week and a half... mostly in the last couple of nights... I thought this would satiate my craving, but it really didn't... I found myself browsing the lace pattern books at Borders... I think my fingers are possessed...

Lacework in the past for me has been like pulling teeth...I wouldn't be surprised if I found myself attempting mmario's designs soon... but we'll see how long this lasts :)

Another one tempted to the dark side.

They are both very beautiful Chester! I love the combinations of the yarn and patterns you chose! I can't believe you knit both of those in a week and a half. You must be a bionic knitter!

I just printed out your QAL pattern... I have a bright red hank of Baruffa Cashwool that I've slated for it... we'll see how things go!

Welcome to the Dark Side, Lace Knitting Version :-) They both look great.

I do have to agree, Mmario's designs are much easier than they look. I'm working on my 2nd Queen Anne's Lace and have actually been working on it while watching television or at knit night. Although Spanish Armada was challenging me and after 2 starts I gave up and decided my cousin was getting QAL for her wedding. I think it was the pressure of a deadline that was making Spanish Armada so difficult.

They look great. I might have to have a go at Lavalette as I've already done 198yds of heaven which is a really fast knit.

Beautiful knitting and blend of pattern and colors. Lace is its own reward - even when you want to run out of the room screaming because something went wrong. (Usually several inches back.) -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
