Finished the sweater I was working on for my upcoming vacation week in Province town.
The pattern for this sweater is a free offering from Ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/simple-summer-tweed-top-down-v-neck
As you can see from the attached photos, I modified the pattern to my tastes. First of all, I used Lion Brand “Recycled Cotton” yarn (72% cotton, 26% acrylic, 2% other) in “Seashells” for color A and “Marine” for Color B. I opted not to go with the rolled cuffs and hems and instead used a reverse stocking knit stitch followed by a short rib. This leaves the cuffs and hem loose and casual. I also found that the neck opening in the original pattern was too wide for my tastes, so I used the reversed stocking knit and ribbing to help bring it in more.
I like the feel of the recycled cotton yarn and, over all, am happy I used it. It suited my purpose just fine for a casual, “just in case” sweater to take on vacation. After all, I’m driving to P-Town and meeting friends there, so I can pack the car with all the outfits I want.
Now that this is done, I can get to work on projects for my upcoming church bazaar in November and then, the “Christmas Sweater” for 2010.
I will be in Province town from August 7 to 14. If anyone else is in town at that time, let me know. Would love to sit and have a drink with another knitter from MWK
