Finished Vest

Blue Vest

I posted this as a W.I.P. a while back and have finally gotten a picture of the finished project.  This was a part of my goal to use up some of my substantial stash.  Knowing that I would likely not have enough yarn to finish the vest, I decided to knit it in the round and work until I ran out.  I couldn't find a bulky wool/acrylic blend that I liked to finish it off with.  I also wanted to keep the additional purchase at a very moderate price, as this was auction yarn that I got for a steal I wanted to keep it that way.  I would up using Wool-Ease worsted, working double stranded.  The denim color knit up darker, but I still like the effect, so I'm pleased with it.  I attached a picture of the original pattern I based it on as well.

So another finished project, another project that used up some stash.  I've moved on to The Manly Sweater from Stitch-n-Bitch.  With this I am using all stash, the main color being Paton's Aran Wool that I got at this year's auction and the CC's were Paton's Classic Wool that I had in my stash.  So no additional yarn purchase needed  for this one.  I've alread finished the back, I'll post a pic in a few days.

It's not so much the using the stash that is the challange, it's the not buying any new yarn until you use the stash that is the real challange.  Fortunately I don't extend that limitation to sock yarn, the yarn you buy when you aren't buying any new yarn...LOL. A ball of sock yarn every other week or so keeps me from going on a yarn buying binge.  And since I finished my spiral rib socks I can start a new pair of socks.

well done
