Hello all! It has been a while since I've posted because I am here at the Novitiate friary where I can only use the internet once a week. On that note, I also apologize that I have not read or commented on anyone's blog either. I just wanted to write to express my joy at beginning a baby blanket for a neice or nephew who has not even been conceived! When will my sister and her husband decide to have children... I do not know. However, I have no intention of rushing them, because I do know that it takes me quite some time to knit anything. On the other hand, here in the novitiate I have more time to knit than I did in postulancy. In any case, I'm excited to be trying out this new pattern for the blanket -- lace and fans. It is my first time doing yarn overs, which I thought would be tricky but actually are not really so. I'm making it on size 7, 32" circular needles.
As for the sewing lessons, one novice a year is tutored by one of the Franciscan Sisters across the street and up the hill from the friary. I was thrilled to have this opportunity, and look forward to my Wednesday classes with Sr. Theresa Anne. Just call me the Martha Stewart of St. Francis Friary -- gardener, knitter, occasional cook, and now soon-to-be tailor!
Pax et bonum,
