A Couple of Recently Finished Objects

Hi guys,

I wanted to share a couple of projects I recently finished. There are more details posted on ravelry in case you're interested (raycarlburg). The first is the Boneyard Shawl design by Stephen West. I used a cotton/silk blend and went up about 2 needle sizes from the ball band's suggestion so that I could get the drape I wanted.

The other is Elizabeth Zimmermann's Nalgar (or Reverse Raglan) sweater. It was done from the bottom up and I used Punta Merino. At the underarms, you begin working increases that shape the beginning of the sleeves. At some point, the sleeve section is large enough to join and finish working the sleeves in the round. The only seam is from the neck down to where the reverse raglan increase lines meet at the top of the sleeve. I tried a few textured stitches, but stockinette shows this yarn off the best, so this pattern seemed like a good choice. I also like it for its simplicity and clever approach to shaping.

Take care, guys!

Beautiful sweater and scarf you completed. Did you use a variegated yarn for the sweater?

Yes, one yarn - the colorway did all the work.

Just awesome, Ray. I checked it out on Ravelry. I especially like the third picture down on the column of pictures for this project. I really like how those stockinette stitches come together from different directions and that one "

It looks great! I love the way you used the roll neck and cuffs.

Both pieces look great. The colour of the yarn in your sweater is amazing.

Have been knitting for years. I knit continually then will try another craft, but will return to the needles.

You achieved lovely drape in you Boneyard, it's such a good pattern. The Nalgar looks most impressive, not one I've seen previously, must look out for it.
