Cabled Afghan

I just finished a cabled afghan as a surprise Christmas present for a friend. I started it in September and finished it a few days ago.

Here are some of the details.
Pattern: Cable Comfort Throw by Lion Brand Yarn
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver – Ranch Red
Needles: 10 1/2 circular (I don't know the exact length)
Modifications: I wanted a bigger size, so I cast on to make 6 of the cable panels and did 16 repeats of the pattern. Since I didn't have a bulky weight yarn I doubled up the worsted weight.

All in all it was a pretty easy knit. I definitely will keep this in mind if I get any more requests for a cabled afghan.

That is one seriously cabled (and warm looking!) afghan!

It is quite warm. While working on it I had to take breaks more often to cool off than to rest my hands!

I looked over the pattern for that and I think you did the right thing doing it all as one piece. Yours looked so much nicer than the photos in the pattern.
