I have been working on this sweater for quite awhile and I just decided to get it finish it. I have used a #5 circular needle per my gauge, up to the arm gussets and then changed over to straight needles.
The pattern of the chest and back is double moss stitch. I have taken a picture of the imitation seam which appears on the half way mark on both sides. I believe that I had read somewhere that it is added because of a superstition, something about not being worked in an unbroken circle. This might be due to the men who wear this are fishermen and the sea.
The yarn is pure virgin wool, brand name “Lamb’s Wool-Schaffhauser Wolle” 50g/1 ¾ oz. (250m) Navy blue. Produced in Switzerland.
The sleeves will be picked up stitches around each yoke and worked down to the cuff. I will have to undo the neck castoff and do it over with much bigger needles, perhaps #10 or #11. It will not fit over the head!!!
