Touching Base

Yeah, it's been quite a while since I've posted... but I have been lurking nonetheless!

Decided over a 2 week winter holiday that I was going to "re-learn" crochet. So, I have been banging out crochet projects of late. However, I hear the siren song of socks beckoning! I am sure that the knitting needles will be in action again soon.

I also got fired up about lap looms that i saw demoed at a KTog I attended for the Midwest Fiber & Folk Art Fair ( I got myself a set of three square looms (8", 10", 12") and have been slowly progressing on a baby blanket for the new grand-nephew. He has become the recipient of quite a few objects lately!

I gifted myself with a Glimakra Standard Countermarch Weaving Loom this Christmas. I haven't actually taken delivery yet as I am not scheduled for a weaving class until March... but soon.

2011 promises more than it's share of fiber related joy... I am already committed to being at Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival in May, Midwest Fiber & Folk Art Fair in Libertyville, IL (where I will be teaching a beginner class in Tablet Weaving) in June, Sock Summit in Portland in July, then the High Holy Rhinebeck in October!!

I trust you are all well.

Wow Thor, you are like Super Fiber Guy! I've been thinking about relearning crochet, myself. That was the first fiber art I learned, in 7th grade (when my folks were stationed in Tehran, Iran, of all places). I have about half a granny square afghan made that I've been lugging around with me for a few years now that I should really finish up. I love that you're hopping around to all these fiber shows. I always hit the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival - and if I can swing it, I want to go to Rhinebeck this year.

Think less, enjoy it more.
