Men's Fall Knitting Retreat 2011

Hallo Boys,

It’s time to start planning the Men’s Fall Knitting Retreat 2011!!!!

Labor Day is our running tradition for this event and this year, Labor Day long weekend is Thursday, September 1st through Sunday, September 4th. I’ve confirmed this weekend with Judy at Dumas Bay Centre (the past 2 year’s retreat location/site) and they are very excited to have us back. We have reserved Banquet Room 3 (now called Eagleview Room, now with AC!!) for our group.

Thursday, September 1 - Sunday, September 4th

Here’s the fee/price breakdown per person:
$280 - Private room for 4 days/3 nights (Thurs-Sun, includes all meals/tea coffee, & LINENS!!!)
$40 - Admin Fee (this compensates me & assistants for our planning and execution time)
$40 - Printing/Supplies Fees/Badges/Thank you cards/postage/phone
$10 - Men’s Knitting Retreat fee (this helps maintain the website and our group liability insurance)
$15 - PayPal Fees (this is now 4% of the total cost and is charged when you transfer money via PayPal)
$5 - Teaching stipend (we are offering $20 stipend for instructors/per class)
$390 GRAND TOTAL (does NOT include your air fare, gas, shuttles, special field trips, etc.)

* Check-In Time is 3pm (9/1 or 9/2), Check-Out Time is 11am (9/4)
* There is a 90 Day Contract Signing deadline (6/1)
* There will be ABSOLUTELY no refunds, once we reach the 30 Day mark (8/2)

Directions to the facility can be found at

Transportation Recommendations are:

> Shuttle Express: 1-800-487-7433 or 425-981-7000

> Local Yellow Taxi : Garry - 206-334-7498 (cell) or 253-941-4802. Garry lives locally and works 5 AM - 5 PM providing airport and other local service

> Diamond Taxi: Dave 253-275-7208 Dave lives locally and works 4 AM - 4 PM

I have given Dumas Bay our request for reservation but we don’t officially have the reservation until I make the deposit. I’ll be signing the contract within the next 60 days. The sooner you can reserve and make your payment, the sooner I can sign the contract. If you’re interested in going, please let me know on this forum and I’ll send you an invoice via PayPal.

I’ve crafted a poster and attached the PDF. Please share it with anyone you think would like to join us and for promoting to your networks/contacts.

May I could get a show of “hands” from those of you interested in attending this year? You can either messsage me here or on Ravelry. I can give you my personal email if you are not on Ravelry so that we can keep in touch.

I look forward to seeing some new faces (and some old friends) for this year’s retreat! Please share this with anyone I’ve overlooked or that you think would like to join us.

Thanks, Gents!!!

I'm all paid up. I think that I'll wear all my cowboy gear this year. Knitting in tight Wranglers and boots seems like a lot of fun.

Oh, I'll wear my kilt and make cocktails; however, I will not do crisco twister in my kilt. I'll have to think about what's appropriate attire for that game.

I am interesting going! How else will I learn how to have our very own retreat, here in the south, if I don't attend a premier event like this!

I'm so glad you are joining us, Charles!!!

I'm planning a trip back to the homeland (Seattle in particular) this autumn but the timing is not yet set, so I'm firmly in the "tentative" category. Can I wear şalvar? (Google if in doubt) :) They would protect me during the twister event...not sure I wanna get Crisco all over 'em though... :-?

Hi Bob,

I hope you can join us. I can guarantee there is no hazing, but there will be lots of knitting, spinning and crocheting. Let me know if you have any other questions.

take care,

I'm interested but not committed... How long do the commitment-shy have before having to decide?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your interest in the Men's Fall Knitting Retreat. If we have space, you can sign up but it's better for our planning if we know at least 30 days before the event is scheduled to take place (which is Sept 1). That's the point where there are no refunds.

If you have any other questions, you can zap me an email for a quicker response. mikealanwade (at) gmail (dot) com. I'm also on Ravelry as WonderMike.

Thanks for your patience,
