A late night.

Well I went to bed a lot later than normal and I didn’t do anything to show for the 2 extra hours I was awake. I didn’t go for a long walk with the dogs, in fact they were already in their beds. I didn’t knit up a frenzy, it was on the hall table waiting to be taken to the office with me in the morning. I didn’t drive around town in the Mustang with the top down. No, I didn’t do anything but watch a house burn, not mine, a neighbor. I was getting ready to go to bed when I heard a lot of sirens and saw they stopped at the corner at my house. When I stepped out the front door all I could see is smoke pouring out the neighbors house 2 houses down the cross street. I was thrilled to see that everyone made it out fine, their only car was out on the street and not in the garage. I was happy to see that the fire was contained to just the garage, the rest of the house however was covered in smoke. They will have a lot of smoke damaged items and a lot of the house will have to be rebuilt.
After hearing what happened I feel very blessed to live in the neighborhood I live in. Before the cops and firemen arrived there were 3 neighbors who rushed in with hoses and fire extinguishers and tried to put it out, this, I’m sure, kept the fire from spreading into the attic and the rest of the house.
