OK, first post. Hello all.

I'm from Tampa, FL, and started knitting this past January. I've only completed a few things, partially because I don't have vast swaths of time to work on knitting, and also because I can't yet follow patterns and watch TV with my partner.

I am currently working on three scarves, with another scarf and small blanket / throw on the "next" list, plus yarn for a few more projects. One of the scarves is knit entirely in the Tunisian stitch, which is interesting to work with.

One of the things I've done is the attached hat. It's for a friend receiving treatment for ovarian cancer. She loves it, particularly how soft the yarn is. (The contrast is high, though the colors slightly flattened, because I made heavy use of a wavelet sharpen. Blackening the shadows brings out the stitches.)

So... Hi.

Seriously? Only knitting since January? Of THIS year? The hat is awesome. Love the color. Great work! Great photo too. Welcome to the group!

Yes, this year, and thank you.
The seam in the hat is a bit "imperfect". I knit it on straight needles and sewed up the back. The ends of the mistake rib / stockingette border are off by about 1cm.
