Need a pattern for double knit mittens!!

Hi Guys! I'm looking for a pattern for double knit mittens. I want them to be two solid colors (black on the outside and taupe on the inside) and knit in the round...anyone know of a good pattern? Thanks, Eric

Hi Eric,

I’ve only done double-knit fingerless gloves. You might want to look through the posts on the double-knitting group on Ravelry. As far as the solid color thing goes my experience has been that if you don’t have some kind of pattern where yarns switch sides then the sides are only connected at the cast-on/set-up row and the bind-off and and they slip and slide against each other. This is a gingham check pattern that is very easy and really binds the two sides of the fabric together well so there's no slippage.

All the best with it, Tom

I haven't knit any myself, I prefer fingerless mitts but a cursory search on Ravelry for "double knit mittens" brings up a lot of results! Check out the houndstooth design, they're really sharp! Happy hunting!

I also was looking for the same type of pattern and I came up with one. I'm not exactly sure what you are looking for but I'll describe what my pattern consists of and you can check it out and if it suits your needs you can download it for $5.00

The pattern starts with an invisible cast on, sizing from baby to large men's. You double knit all the way up as one mitten and then upon finishing it becomes 2 mittens, one inside the other. this is a picture on a ladies medium mitten. I'm also on Ravelry if you want to look me up with the same name as on here.

I'm currently working on a large men's mitten now.

What you need to know to make these mittens are:
- Knitting in the round either with Magic Loop or 2 circular needles, or 4-5 dpn's
- Knit and Purl
- decreasing and increasing

Hope this helps you!
