Square Shawl

I made another square shawl for a niece. Although I have made lots of these, I find them interesting and relaxing. This one is made with Jamieson and Smith Shetland wool (colourway - Periwinkle) on 4.5mm needles. It measures 68 inches x 68 inches. I finished it with a sideways garter stitch border that I found in my "knitting book" and have no idea where I found it. It is pretty and only an 8 row repeat. I would use it again.

What beautiful lace work! I've never tried it, but think that it must soon become a project.

Very nice. I like that edging and will keep it in mind for future projects.

Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Beautiful looking shawl and colour Ron, the border sets it off so well. What is the shawl pattern?

It is just started at the centre with 8 stitches and you increase every other round at four points. I throw in some YOk2tog every so often to prevent me from falling asleep. They are easy to do.

So laid out flat it would show concentric squares?

Can squares be concentric? Usually the term is used with circles - but since it means "common center" I guess it works with squares.

Like the results....

MMario - I'm not divorced from reality - we're having a trial separation

That really is nice - has a lovely light look to it. I have never tried lace work - must have a go one day.

Very nice!!! My kind of lace, not too fussy, simple and elegant.
